She's Getting to Be Such a Big Girl

We went to the doctor's office yesterday and things went quite well. Emma-Lyn did very well. She's now 8 lbs 15oz! Yay! And she's pooping like a trooper now! How wonderful is that?! The doctor was quite impressed with her strength and how bright and alert she was. Too bad he didn't get to marvel at her belching abilities!

Yes, it turns out our baby girl can let out a good belch when she needs to. I had just finished nursing her and had her up on my shoulder tapping her back for a burp, when she threw back her head and really let one rip! It was quite impressive! So impressive that Marko just looked at me and said, "Yep, she's a Hope!" Ha, ha, ha!

Today was a great day, even with the power outage. I had hoped to go to the bank today just as something to do. My bank has a drive through ATM so I figured it was a pretty easy excursion to take the two kiddos on. Little did I realize that the power outage was pretty near Island wide so going anywhere was pretty much useless. I had quite an interesting time going through major intersections with no traffic lights working. It seems most people forget how to take turns here when the power is out. I decided to make a quick visit to Grace Christian School to show off Emma-Lyn. It was great to see all the staff and the students again and show them what a sweet little girl and charming little boy I have! Sean was actually shy while we were there.

Anyways I better head to bed. I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow!

What a Boy...

He makes me laugh, he makes me cry, he makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes!! And today was just one of those days...Poor fella, didn't seem to matter what he did we just kept getting in each other's way. I think the biggest shocker for me though, was when I went into his room only to discover that he had managed to move his bookcase so that it was now perpendicular to the wall!! Definitely a hair raising type experience! I was not at all impressed with his new found herculean abilities. Then he thought it might be fun to try flipping his rocking chair over and standing on that...Also not something I'm all that keen on.

But then, there were the other times when he was so helpful or playful that I just wanted to hold him close and kiss him all over. He was quick to help me with Emma-Lyn, if I needed a blanket, he would go and get it. If she was fussing, he would go over to rock her (unfortunately his style of rocking resembles the tumble cycle of the dryer). And when it came down to just some Sean and me time, we had oodles of fun playing cars, peek-a-boo and horsey.

Ahh, the challenges and joys of motherhood!!

She Pooped!!

Yes, indeedy our baby girl did it with a little help from an infant suppository. We popped it in this afternoon and within minutes we had big time poop! And don't fear, I won't go into detail besides to say that there was a whole lot of it! So here's hoping that baby girl is now on a life long journey to regularity!

Today was my first day out of the house since Monday! It was wonderful to go to church and show off Emma-Lyn. Everyone was delighted to meet her and ask how Sean was doing with his new little sister.

Something else that is quite exciting for me is the prospect of going to the women's bible study held at my church again. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to go, what with two little ones to cart around and no wheels of my own to do it in. Thankfully, Marko is able to carpool with one of his co-workers again!! This means I get to have the car every once in awhile - Yeee Haw! This week it so happens that I get the car on Tuesday which is good, since we have a doctor's appointment to go to first and then off to bible study we go!

Since I'm not all that sure how often people read the comments here or if they're looking for responses in blog posts I thought I would respond to a couple comments in this post. First, Aunt Isabel, I did try the chocolate...and quite enjoyed the experiment. Unfortunately it didn't seem to have any impact on Emma-Lyn's bowels. Second, to Bonnie's friend (might I guess that you might be Sarah?) breast feeding is going very well which is new for me. With Sean things did not go well and we ended up switching to formula pretty quickly. I don't think this will be the case this time as I'm actually enjoying my time nursing Emma-Lyn. Thanks for asking.

I also would like to thank Elsa and Norman for the casserole, rolls and cookies they made for us! They were scrumptious. Also thank you to Sharon and Gerry for the turkey dinner we wolfed down this evening. Sean really enjoyed the cranberry sauce. And here's the proof:

Mmmmmm, yummmy cranberry sauce.

My Beppe (grandmother) has been asking after Emma-Lyn and would really like to see a close up of her so here are a couple. I took more but she looks a little spooked in those ones.

The super close up. What a sweetie.

Such a Sweet Big Brother

Sean really seems to enjoy his little sister even if she's taken the spotlight from him. He likes to rock her in her bouncy seat and this evening after supper he wanted to hold her. So I brought her over to him and he lovingly stroked her little head and gave it a big kiss! So sweet.

Thankfully, Sean does seem to be settling into his new role of being a big brother. He does have his meltdowns but I think that has something to with his age as well as our new addition. And here's the coolest part, I think we may be on the verge of a potty training break through. Sean has been getting better with the whole peeing in the potty and has been taking great pride in his efforts. Lately though, I think he wants to try to poop in the potty but is still a bit unsure of himself. You know he has to poo when he takes off to his bedroom and shuts the door. Today he actually went to the bathroom with the intent of going poop. Marko even went in with him but Sean didn't want him to come in (apparently the boy likes his privacy) But in the end he didn't manage the poop in the potty.

Speaking of poop, Emma-Lyn still hasn't pooped. We were going to give her a suppository but I guess we chickened out. Neither Marko or I are all that keen on giving her one ourselves and where she is still so content and happy we're a little reluctant to do it... Hopefully soon, she'll do it all on her own.

The Peric Baby Pool WINNER!!!

******Editor's Note***** How could I be so remiss as to miss another honourable mention! This one goes to Nancy Thomas for predicting the name Emma!! Congratulations Nancy!!! Sorry about the oversight!*********

Yes, the moment we have all been waiting for...the announcement of the winner of our baby pool... Drum roll please! The winner is none other than Auntie Linda!! She had the date, January 16 right and the prediction that it was going to be a girl right. She was a bit off on the weight and so honourable mentions go to both Sarah Somers-MacKay and Mike Thomas for hitting the weight spot on, 8lbs 10oz!

Thanks to all who participated, I hope you enjoyed making your predictions as much as I enjoyed reading them!

Things in the Peric household continue to shape up. We're still in the midst of settling in so to those who may have mentioned visiting, if you could wait until next week that would be great for me. Also it's easier for me if visits are held off until the evening after 8. It's a lot less hectic once Sean is in bed. Hope that's okay with ya'll.

Emma-Lyn still hasn't pooped so I called the doctor just to see what he had to say. He said to give her until Saturday and if she hasn't gone by then, then to give her half a glycerin suppository. Oh, the fun of it all. She's doing great though, such a happy and content little baby girl...I mean just check out this sweet little pic:

Such sweet little dreams. I can see a lot of Sean in her in this photo, looks like him when he was that small.

Baby Girl is One Week Old!

I can hardly believe that a week has already gone by! So much to take in. Emma-Lyn is doing great. When we left the hospital her weight was down to 8lbs 2oz and then she was down to a flat 8 lbs but she's back up to 8 lbs 7oz! So this is good. Only thing is she hasn't pooped since we left the hospital. The health nurse has been in a couple of times and seems pretty pleased with Emma-Lyn's progress and isn't overly concerned about the pooping thing. But still, here's hoping she poops soon.

Sean is really having a tough time adjusting to our new life. He's much more cranky and whiny by times. The best we can do is just take things moment by moment. Today my mom went back to Nova Scotia so it was our first day as just us. It was difficult to keep Sean happy when I was feeding Emma-Lyn. He would always pick that time to want to be picked up. Poor guy. Still, that said he certainly seems quite pleased with his baby sister. He wants to hold her and pat her and give her kisses as well as toys. It blesses me to no end to see him be so gentle with her.

Anyhoo, its getting late and I seriously need some sleep. While nursing had been going oh so wonderfully at first, we've hit a bit of a rough spot. I've got some cracking going on and thankfully the health nurse came with a prescription of sorts for a special ointment that I'm hoping will do wonders for it.
Sean and his new Thomas the Tank Engine back pack. Instead of a diaper bag I thought that Sean would like to have his own big boy back pack. Now he and Abby can both pretend to go to school with their backpacks on their backs! :)
Such wonderment!

Sweet brotherly love!

Emma-Lyn's Birth Story

Hey everybody, we're home from the hospital as of yesterday. Last night was pretty chaotic but we all survived! And today went quite well with just a few minor melt downs from Sean. This has certainly been quite the adjustment for him.

So now for what you all have been waiting for: Emma-Lyn's birth story...

I think I had told you all how my water broke around noon on Wednesday and how at the hospital they told us we could go home and let labour progress, which we did. And we managed to have one last couple's night out for dinner at the Dundee Arms (it was sooooo yummy, I had the pan fried haddock in dill sauce and a Caesar salad)

After supper we headed home to let things really get going. I had a few contractions during supper but nothing too exciting. Marko got the fun job of getting Sean bathed and ready for bed while I laid down on the bed and breathed through some contractions. Things were certainly starting to happen. Once Sean was in bed Marko called Labour and Delivery to see what they thought about us coming in. While the contractions were getting stronger they weren't consistent and they said that we could come in if we wanted to but it didn't sound like we needed to. So we stayed put.

Then it seemed the contractions were ramping up again so Marko called in again. And again they said that we were more than welcome to come in but it didn't sound like we had to so again we stayed put. The contractions were definitely getting stronger. As I breathed through each one I would recite Psalm 23 in my head which really helped me through them. And then there were the ones I breathed through while on the phone with Brian and that was just funny. I was almost laughing just listening to their play by play of the contractions. Thanks for the distraction guys!

Finally, the contractions were getting so rough that I was having a hard time just breathing through them. Marko called again and while he was on the phone I started moaning and they were all like, yes, it's definitely time to come in! Marko made a quick call to Mike to come over to watch Sean. Another call to my folks and one last one to Brian and Bonnie and then we were off. Well sort of. I got as far as the kitchen sink when a really strong contraction came on and I had to just hang on to Marko to get through it. Then we got as far as our front entry and we had to stop again.

We got in the car and took off and thankfully made green lights all the way to the hospital. I had a few more really strong contractions that I was now all out wailing through. Marko pulled up and parked the car at the front entrance (which really is illegal but we figured he had a really good reason) Once we were in the first set of doors I had another contraction where I was pulling on Marko's jacket for all I was worth. (He was beginning to get worried that I was going to rip the jacket right off him and he'd be going into the delivery room all Incredible Hulk looking!) While I was wailing in pain a man from inside came out to see how he could help and Marko just said, WHEELCHAIR! He quickly returned with the chair and another woman appeared and helped get it set up and me in it, she even told me that she would pray for me. Then we were off!!

I don't think I've ever gone down those halls quite so fast in my life. As soon as we were in the hallway to Labour and Delivery the nurses were up and prepping a room for me. We flew into the room where the nurses quickly got me undressed and on the bed. No sooner was I down than I was pushing much to their dismay. They kept telling me to breathe and not to push. At this point I really didn't feel like I had much choice in the matter, my body just kept saying PUSH and push I did. They hardly had time to get the baby's heartbeat on the monitor. The doctor and nurses were rushing about and in no time, my sweet baby girl was born. We arrived at the hospital at ten to ten and Emma-Lyn was born at five to ten!! Yeah, so I guess maybe we should have gone in a bit earlier eh?!

The stay at the hospital was great. And life at home is beginning to shape up as well, although we have a long way to go yet before things return to a some sense of normal. Emma-Lyn is doing great. She's a great little nurser and sleeper and just such a sweet little baby girl. Sean is having a tough time adjusting but I'm sure he'll come around soon. Today was definitely better than yesterday. And tomorrow he and Gramma are going to bake cookies together. I'm sure he'll love that!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and lovely comments! I had Marko read them to me from home when I was in the hospital.

One very proud papa.

More Pictures and a new blog title

Hello all, Marko here again. I am happy to report that we are all doing well. At this rate we'll be home on the weekend, so if you are planning to visit us at the hospital, Friday might well be your last opportunity. And thank you to all who did visit today, there were a lot of you!

You may have noticed there's a new title on this blog, Laura had decided a while ago to change to Life's Sweetest Blessings once the new baby had arrived. Life with Sean just didn't seem to fit any more.

I took lots more pictures than these few, but I thought these would be a few good ones to share.

Meet Emma-Lyn Hope Peric

Hello everyone. This is Marko, Laura's husband for anyone who doesn't know, posting this. Meet Emma-Lyn Hope Peric. She was born at 9:55 PM on January 16, and weighed in at 8 lbs, 10 oz, and was 20 inches long. Laura is staying in room 418 and visiting hours in Maternity are 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. More pictures and info coming soon, but I need to go and sleep now.

Woo Hoo Stuff is Happening!!!!

So my water broke at noon today while I was just sitting at my computer doing the whole blog reading thing. I sent a quick message to Marko who was at work and then called Jennie to come pick us up. Sean was napping at the time, once Jennie arrived I got him up and he was all like "Hospital, baby come now?!" How wild is that.

At the hospital they assessed me (Marko came in the middle of it). And the verdict was to let the labour progress on its own and it was my choice either to do that at the hospital or to come home. We opted to come home and we also managed to go out to dinner, just Marko and I to one of our favourite restaurants, The Dundee Arms. Jennie stayed with Sean at our place until we got home.

So here's how things stand now, I'm having contractions but nothing worthy of heading back to the hospital..yet anyways. And if things don't pick up on their own, then we're headed into the hospital at 6:30 to be induced. So yeah, this baby is a comin!!!

This is How I Feel...

I guess I may be feeling more like a nutcase than I thought!! LOL! That said, my condition is doctor approved! He said I was allowed to feel like a nutcase by this point. So Let the GOOD TIMES ROLL, Y'ALL!!
Posted by Picasa

I'm Not a Nutcase...Yet

The storm has hit and Marko didn't go into work today but instead is working from home. We got a call from our dr's office to come in earlier for our appointment so we've been in and are back...with not a whole lot to report.

Not much progress has been made but as the doctor put it, I'm not a nutcase at this point so we'll continue to wait and see before we start talking crazy talk like inducing or what have you. We are going to see him over the weekend at the hospital...8 am Saturday morning! Yipes that seems early. Then if nothing is gleaned from that then the next appointment at his office is next Tuesday morning.

Oh the fun, the fun, the fun!!

And Now Another Snowstorm!!

Great, another snow storm is gearing up to hit us over night with up to 15 cm of snow and blowing snow. Yipppeeee! So, now I'm hoping this little one decides to hang out just a little longer, at least until Wednesday when things should be getting better.

The good news is that Marko was able to pick up two new tires at Walmart this morning. This is a good thing. The car is handling better now and no more donut on the rear tire!

Sean is so funny. Today he came up to me wagging his finger very authoritatively and remarking that today was Monday! Yes, today is Monday. Good call my little man. I asked him what tomorrow would be and this is what he said, "Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. AMEN!" Too funny. He seems to like to add Amen in other places too. He'll go through his numbers 1 through 10 and end with an emphatic Amen!

And what I can't understand about him is how he knows what his episode of Monkey George is going to be about. Take today for example, the title of the segment was "Up, up and Away" So before we saw any part of the cartoon I asked Sean what this one was about and he said, "balloon" which was right. It's all about George and Bill going up in a hot air balloon! So weird, I don't know how he knows but he does. He also knew that the second segment was about a skunk without seeing any of the cartoon itself, just the title.

I asked him about the baby today, was he going to love it, diaper it and hug it. You'll be happy to know that answered affirmatively for all of those questions! He spent a lot of time rubbing my belly today which was very sweet.

So weather permitting we're off to the doctor's office tomorrow yet again, wish me luck! ;)

There is Only One Law...

And it is Murphy's!! What could go wrong pretty much did go wrong today. We started out late getting up and things quickly fell apart from there. Marko wasn't feeling too well, looks like he may be coming down with a cold so he was feeling pretty sluggish this morning. It was only once we were at the car that we realized that Sean's car seat wasn't in it. ( You would have thought one of us would have noticed it on the landing...but we didn't) By this time we were already late for the first meeting. As I was struggling to get the car seat in, Marko says, "We're not going anywhere right now, look at that..." And what to my wondering eyes did I see, but one completely flat tire..Whoopee!! So back into the house we trudged, Sean hollering about going in the car all the way.

Marko called Honda Plus and we had a tow truck at our door in minutes and the spare tire put on in less. It was great. So now we had some time to regroup and hopefully have a better chance at getting out to second meeting. When we got there, everyone was pretty surprised to see me there, I was called a trooper, brave and maybe a little crazy. We settled into our seats in the balcony and had maybe been there 5 minutes when I distinctly heard a little boy's voice say, "Mommy? Mommy?" I was like, that's Sean! He's escaped from the nursery! So I bolted out of my seat and ran down the stairs with Marko hot on my trail. I got down there to find Sean happily reading a book and definitely not running around in the basement (although I did find out later that he did, indeed escape if only for a brief moment)

When we got back up to the balcony there were a lot of wide eyes and smiles. I quickly explained to a friend what had happened, apparently she had thought (as well as most of the people up there) that my water had broke and we were on our way to the hospital. While that would have been fun too, I'm glad that wasn't the case.

Our afternoon was much quieter. We had a lovely lunch at the elder's along with another couple and then came home to watch the Curious George movie we got for Christmas.

So, we're still pregnant with our next doctor's appointment scheduled for Tuesday. Looks like I'll probably make it to that one...sigh.

May as Well Laugh as Cry About It...

At least that's what my oldie would say. Another day and I went to work for my oldies. I made biscuits and soup and got lunch together. A pretty easy day. I'm feeling pretty good, not too uncomfortable or anything, although it would be nice to have one less person living in my body.

Sean was super cute today, full of hugs and kisses. He is quite set on having the baby play toys once he/she comes out. That should be interesting!

Tomorrow we're off to church and we've been invited out to lunch at one of the elder's homes. I find this just a little funny. I mean, I was supposed to have had this baby by now so really I'm a walking time bomb. And here we have a lunch invite to an elder's home...Now, how funny would it be if my water broke over there?!! I'm sure a good time would be had by all!!

Another Day Closer

Yep, I'm still here and still pregnant! Wooo Hooo, let the good times roll. I'm doing so well that I'm going to go in to work for my oldies tomorrow. Yeee Haw, again lets here it for the good times. I don't mind it though, it's work that I'd be doing in my own home so it's not like it's all that strenuous. Maybe it'll help keep my mind off things for a while anyways.

Bet ya'll are getting tired of coming back here just to find out that there still isn't a baby to see yet. I know I'm tired of all these I'm still pregnant posts. Something I'm not tired of is my computer. And the reason why is that Marko got rid of my Windows ME operating system (which was slow as molasses in January and finicky to boot) and installed Windows XP!! Now it actually feels like I have high speed internet! I love it!

I'm Forever Feeling Pregnant...

So yet another day goes by and we're still a family of three. Thank you all so much for the encouraging emails and comments. I know that eventually when this baby is ready to come he/she will come but of course it's just a matter of time.

In the afternoons Sean and I have been taking walks around the neighborhood. Sean loves it. He loves talking about all the things he sees. Like the trucks and cars and school buses and the many puddles. Then when he's run out of things to say, he'll just say "walking around the neighborhood." So cute.

And in case you're wondering how Marko is doing, he wrote a post on his blog. Click here to read about it.

Our Little Man

He is quite the fella. Tonight after his bath, I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty to go pee and he said no and instantly I thought, oh no here we go again back to the drawing board...But was I ever in for a shock. Although Sean didn't want to sit down to pee, he did want to pee. He faced the potty, lifted the lid, held on to the handles and peed standing up!! What a little man in the making! And boy was he pleased with himself! So cute.

So yeah, I'm still pregnant with nary a symptom of impending labour...sigh. I'll keep you posted! :)

Could This Be the Last Belly Picture?!!

I doubt it but hey ya never know. So here it is:

Just me and my belly.

And in case anyone was wondering or worried (Mary :) , you need not worry or wonder any more. As soon as baby 2 has finally come to join us, Marko will be heading back here to make the "Arrival Post." So stay tuned, hopefully that post will come some time soon.

And here are some fun shots of Sean:

"I'm gonna get you Daddy!!"

Just checking things out.

Still Pregnant...Weeeeeee

We're back from the Doctor's office and still no real progress just more of the status quo. Which I guess I'm not too disappointed about. At least this pregnancy has been fairly easy. I still get good sleep at night and can waddle about the apartment to get work done. I have another appointment on the 15th and I guess we'll see what happens then.

My doctor was very complimentary to me today. Told me that I looked good in blue but then followed that statement up by saying that he likes to compliment women just in case they ask him about induction and he says no so they won't get too upset about it. I didn't bother to tell him that induction is the furthest thing from my mind right now. I've heard too many horror stories about it that I'd really rather not go that way and hopefully I won't have to.

Anyhoo, here's hoping we have the baby before my next doctor's appointment..Although I'm sure Sean will be disappointed not to go play toys at the doctor's office!

So Tomorrow is Supposed to be the Big Day

Tomorrow is the big ol' due date! And really I don't think the little one is going to come tomorrow. I feel great, no early contractions or anything so I think that this one is going to follow in big brother's footsteps and come late. That being said it's entirely possible that the ultrasound date is off and that the baby will come on time?! I know that the pregnancy ticker I have at the top of the blog is still going with my original date so we'll see how close we come to that...I guess.

Today was Marko's first day back to work and surprisingly we seem to have slipped back into the old routine rather seamlessly. Sean did ask for his Daddy a couple times today but would then remind himself that Daddy had gone to work. We baked cookies, made stew and did some general housework. Lotsa fun.

The Wisdom of Sean

On the weekends at supper time after Marko has finished his meal, he'll take out the Bible and read us a passage. Sometimes though we forget. But this weekend Sean kept us on schedule. When he saw that Daddy was finished his meal, he announced, "Daddy read Bible." And we were both like, "Oh my land, he's right!" And then tonight when Marko was reading he said "...the glory of God..." and didn't Sean immediately look up at me and joyfully say, "Glory of God!" So sweet.

Other things he's been amazing us with is his knowledge of the days of the week. He can pretty much run though the order correctly and if you tell him what today is he can tell you what tomorrow will be...with some prompting. He also seems to know the names of notes, you know the whole doh, ray, me, fa...and so on. And all this is thanks to his favourite CD that he calls Good Morning. It's in the car and that's the only time he gets to listen to it. And you can pretty much count on him asking to listen to it once he's settled in his seat. Thankfully the CD is well done and not too hard to listen to...over and over again. :)

Sean seems to be getting excited about the baby coming. He announced today that when the baby comes out it will want to play toys! And he has already volunteered his services for diaper changing!! How funny is that?!!

Good Times at East Side Mario's

Tonight we celebrated our good friend, Bonnie's birthday. Sean was very excited about this. I told him that we were going out to dinner tonight and that he would get to see Abby. Immediately he ran to the closet to get his boots on to go--it was 3:30 and the party wasn't until 6! He was less than impressed to learn that we wouldn't be leaving for quite some time.

At East Sides Sean and Abby got to sit beside each other and they had a fabulous time. They held hands for awhile, gave each other a little kiss and entertained each other very well. I must say I was impressed with how well they did. By times they both seemed determined to get out of their high chairs but managed to stay put the entire meal. They played peek a boo, pretended they were monkeys..well at least Sean said he was one and Abby just laughed at him.

Today was also another doctor's appointment and it was fine. No progress to share at this point. So it looks like I'll be pregnant for awhile yet!! Let the good times roll. :)

I Was Warned There'd Be Days Like These...

It started off fine enough. Sean slept in till 7 and was in quite a happy mood when he woke up. We had a good morning together until we decided to go out and do some shopping. First we went toWalmart and that went fine. In retrospect maybe we should have called it a day then but we didn't. We headed to the mall afterwards. Ugggghhhhh, we were barely into Zellers and Sean had his first meltdown because we wouldn't let him play on those stupid money swindling car ride contraptions. This should have been our first clue to turn right round and head home. But we were just so happy to not be in the house that we decided to keep going.

We found a belt for Sean and tried to get him to try it out. This is when meltdown number two materialized. I'm sure all the other shoppers were convinced that we were pricking him with a thousand needles for all the noise he was making. And still we kept going. We managed to pick a few more things up before finally ditching our outing for the safety and comfort of our home.

At home Sean was good as gold, ate a healthy lunch and went down quickly for his nap - This all ended when we made it to the doctor's office for his appointment. At first he was pleased to dig around in their toy box but was a little preturbed when after mere minutes he was lead away to the examination room. He now weighs a whopping 35 pounds and he's 3 feet tall. Both are good and proportionate measurements so we were happy with that. Then it was Dr. Slysz's turn...Sean had his third melt down at this point and, oh what a melt down it was, complete with incessant screaming, crying and going completely boneless. As you can imagine, this made it near impossible for Dr. Slysz to check his heart beat or ears or really anything. He stepped out for a moment while we calmed Sean down. Thankfully Sean was able to keep his bellowing to a dull roar and Dr. Slysz was able to finish the appointment. The ultimate result is that we now know that we have a very healthy 2 year old boy! YEEEE HAW!

And that brings us to tomorrow's doctor's appointment, this time for me. Hopefully things are progressing and soon we'll have another family member to share in the insanity that is the Peric household! :)

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

and not the good kind from Dairy Queen. No, this was an old fashioned Eastern Canada winter storm. Ughhh, so much snow and no where to go. Pretty much the whole Island just shut right down. They even pulled the plows off the roads in some areas! Needless to say we didn't leave the house today. We postponed Sean's doctor's appointment until tomorrow afternoon.

We nearly went out of our minds trying to think of something to do. Sean was happy just playing toys but Marko and I seemed to be in a bit of a slump until we started coming up with some small projects to get done. I put up a new picture in our living room and put the baby's ultrasound photos up in his/her room. Then we tackled putting a lamp together. We took parts from one lamp and put it with another and voila we have one whole working lamp.

We didn't take any pictures today but did receive a few from Brian and Bonnie from Halloween and the Birthday party so I thought I would share them in this post.

"I've got a hold on you!!"

Happy New Year!

We had a blast last night ringing in the new year with so many of our friends! We were really thrilled that the weather didn't keep everybody home. We had lots to eat and drink and lots of fun games to play! The amazing part was that not only did Sean sleep through it all but so did Abby and Hannah!

Today I got busy taking down all the Christmas decorations. I wasn't sure how Sean was going to react to seeing the tree come down but he couldn't really care less. He mostly just thought that this was his turn to play with all the ornaments. It's so nice to have the house back to normal. I'm hoping that tomorrow (weather permitting) we'll be able to stop at Walmart and pick up a new lamp and some other odds and ends. Tomorrow is also Sean's annual doctor's appointment! YeeeHaw can't wait to see how happy he'll be to see Dr. Slysz again.

Today was a beautiful day to go for a drive. The sun was shining and making all the new fallen snow sparkle. So we took the opportunity to just go driving in the country and take some fun winter photos. When we came home I fixed us a nice yummy roast beef dinner to top off the first day of the new year! Here's to 2008!

Here are some pictures from our drive in the country.
