Slacking Off On the Ol' Blog Once Again...Eeek

I need to figure out some sort of schedule to make sure that I get more posts written on this thing!

Life has been busy...who woulda thunk it eh?! 3 children certainly do make things interesting and challenging. And with birthdays and Christmas coming it's hard to keep up a regular routine.

This past weekend my folks were here for Sean's family birthday party. It was a fun time, Marko's mom and sister also came down and not only had gifts for Sean but also a couple for Emma-Lyn...this was true brilliance! Emma-Lyn was happily distracted with her own little gifts and the whole jealousy thing didn't really happen. :) Sean loved all his presents and having his family with him to eat more cake!

I've been under the weather for the past couple of days and I've been put on an antibiotic which is already helping a LOT! And thankfully it's better than the one the first doctor wanted to put me on. This one I can still nurse Nate and I only take it for 7 days, the other one was for 10 days and I wouldn't be able to nurse Nate so he'd be on formula and I'd have to pump and dump for all that time...did I mention we've been working on getting back on a routine? This sure would throw a monkey wrench into that!

Anyhoo, here are a few random shots:

Emma-Lyn stepping out in Auntie Linda's boots...Girl loves her footwear. She tried my boots on today...but they went up to her hip so didn't work out so well for wandering around in.

Peaceful sleepy Nate.

Emma-Lyn with her Grampy.

Sean was happy with his new wallet...and was especially pleased with the four loonies he found inside!

Grampy and Nate.

Sean loves to be around Nate and talk to him and kiss him and bath time is no exception.

Cuties by the Christmas tree.

Sean making his first gingerbread house. He had a lot of fun making it but I think he especially enjoyed sampling the candies! :)

Lots Going On

It's been a really wonderful day. We started with a pancake breakfast at Grace Christian School and followed that up with Sean's birthday party. After some nap time/quiet time we were off to the Santa Claus parade (I love the way Sean says it, Santy cute!) It was a good parade. I was really happy that we met up with friends of ours and spent the parade hanging out with them. All the kids really enjoyed it and all the candy that was passed out. By the end of it Emma-Lyn was really going for it and showing off her super cool dancing moves! She also decided that the people beside us (who we didn't know) had a much nicer blanket to sit on so she went and sat with them.

Tomorrow looks busy too. We have church in the morning quickly followed by a concert rehearsal for Sean and in the afternoon we're off to look at yet another's hoping!

All cuddled up waiting for the parade to begin.

This was my personal favourite...Snoopy and the Red Baron!

Busy, Busy, Busy...

I can hardly believe that my sweet little Nate is already 3 weeks old!! He is a great little boy. He is doing really well. We've had him in to see the doctor and after going down to 9 lbs 5 oz, he is back up to 10 lbs 4oz (he's probably more than that by now) He has been a pretty easy baby thus far. At night he goes to bed at around midnight and doesn't wake up till around 6 or 7 which is heaven for me! Through the day he is up every couple hours to feed with some awake time scattered throughout the day. He is mighty big eater so just before bedtime and after a good nursing time he gets a couple ounces of formula to keep him happy (and okay, me happy too.)

Sean and Emma-Lyn have been doing fantastic with Nate. They don't always know how gentle to be with him but they both love rubbing him and giving him lots of kisses. Emma-Lyn especially loves to blow him kisses on her way to bed at night.

Emma-Lyn discovered the wonder of Vaseline last weekend. She decided that the couch, some of the floor, the foot rests, her hair all needed a significant coating of the stuff!! YIPES! Needless to say Marko and I were not all that impressed and weren't exactly sure how we were going to get the stuff out of our furniture. It took us nearly 10 washings just to get the stuff out of Emma-Lyn's hair! Gotta keep an eye on this girl at all times!

The past weekend Sean went to two of his best friend's birthday and today we had his birthday party for his little friends!! So much cake to be had. He had a great time at all the parties and was super excited about having his own party. I'm thinking I might just leave the decorations up till next weekend when my folks come over for Sean's family party and it will actually be the day of his birthday then too.

Tonight we're hoping to head to the Santa Claus parade. Should be fun! Hopefully the rain will hold off till afterwards.

Here are a few snapshots of some of those events:

He Finally Arrived!!!!

Sorry for the delay in sharing the big news...seems Facebook is the way to go to keep everyone informed these days!

Nathaniel (Nate) Kevan Peric was born Saturday, November 7 at 7:28 am! (He and Daddy now share their birthday!)

He weighed in at 10 pounds 8 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long! He is one big boy! I was having fairly regular contractions on Friday that by mid morning had all but gone away. They didn't pick up again till late Friday night. At 3 in the morning on Saturday we made the decision to head to the hospital. We got there for 4 and I was already between 6 and 7 cms dialated! That was great news to me! They quickly got me set up in the birthing room and broke my water which got me quickly to 8cms. We were hoping that I'd quickly jump to 10 but after an hour of no progress they got out the pitocin which certainly helped things along. There wasn't time for an epidural but I did get some happy gas! I was very happy to have that to take the edge off the contractions. A little after 7 and it was time to push! With 4 big pushes Nate was out and the poor guy had quite a rough go of it. He had quite a bit of bruising on his face, his skin was a deep purple and he broke his collarbone on the way out. None of these things seemed to bother him to much though. They quickly cleaned him up and he was nursing a half hour later.

He also had some blood sugar issues due to his big size so we ended up staying a little longer in the hospital to get that sorted out. He is great little eater and sleeper and very sweet little baby boy. Both his big brother and sister are quite thrilled with him. I was really worried about what Emma-Lyn would think of him but she just adores her little brother. We seem to be getting into a pretty good routine and everyone seems to be settling in well. I guess the big test will be when Marko goes back to work on Monday.

Here are the pics of our new little man.

Just minutes old.

All wrapped up and being held by a pretty proud Papa. :)

Cuddling up with Mommy.

Finally home and meeting the rest of his family for the first time.

Our big smiley guy! :)

An Update of Sorts...

So we were to the doctor's today and progress is coming very, very slowly so the verdict is this, if nothing happens on it's own by Saturday then we head in bright and early that morning to induce labour. So if nothing else, at least I know this won't last past Saturday....the funny thing about Saturday is that it's also Marko's birthday!!

Time Keeps Ticking Away....

And I'm still here and I'm still pregnant. That said, I'm not feeling too bad, just huge. I never got stretch marks with Sean or Emma-Lyn but this little guy is totally making up for lost opportunities in that department!! ICK!

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning and we're supposed to talk about inducing then if things aren't yeah, that sounds like fun! :) Today I finished two books that I was reading and I'm hoping that tonight I'll make a really good dent on a third one I've there are a couple others that I'd like to get to too. And I'd like to make up supper for tomorrow, I have a great and easy recipe for chicken pot pie that the whole family loves and to get it done tonight would be then I could snack on some of the stove top dressing that goes on top!! :) Mmmmmmm, yummy stove top!

Anyhoo, will keep you all posted. :)

Oh How That Pregnancy Ticker At The Top Of The Page Mocks Me!!!

So yeah, still no baby news...sigh. People keep telling me that soon, soon it will happen...yeah, yeah ya'll have been telling me that for like 2 weeks!!! And it's starting to get old people!! But I'm not bitter... well, maybe just a little bit.

I had a doctors appointment on Wednesday and I really thought things were going to start happening but alas and alack this little fella seems entirely way too happy on the inside and seems determined to stay there. I have another appointment on Tuesday when (if I haven't gone by then) we will decide when to induce labour. Yippeee!

In other news the kiddos and Jennie and myself went for a lovely walk through the trails at Victoria Park and really enjoyed all the brilliant colours of the trees!

Oh Please Let This Be The Last Belly Pic I Can Take...

So have I whined enough about this baby not coming yet?!! Two days over and it feels like forever! My joints ache, the heart burn is awful, and my waddle is just so pathetic!! ;)

I really want to meet this little fella and okay, if I'm going to be completely honest, I'd really like to have my body back to just me living in it!

Still seems as though the end is far ways off...

So This Was Supposed To Be The Day...

and while it was a really nice day, still no baby. I think this fella is just a little too comfy cozy where he is.

The kids are getting really good at letting Mommy and Daddy sleep in on the weekends which is wonderful! We were finally out of bed a little after nice when you're used to getting up at 7. We did some shopping in the morning and went to a park for a little bit. After lunch it was quiet time... I love this time of day. Emma-Lyn goes down for a nap and Sean plays in his room by himself for at least an hour. This lets me get a little nap too. Sean has been really good about letting me nap which has been wonderful. And he has been such a great little helper. He helps clear the table after meals (without being asked) he helps Emma-Lyn with her toys and just in general really enjoys helping out in anyway he can. He also has become quite the singer and enjoys coming up with his own little ditties. My favourites are the ones about Jesus, just so sweet!

Well I guess we'll go to church tomorrow and see if we can't pray this baby out!! LOL

Emma-Lyn loves to wear her hat in the house. She also has a really cute pink knit one that she likes to wear.

Apparently Sean's bunny also likes to wear hats.

Lovely eh? Great expression and the hair is just awesome!!

5 Days and Counting...

Supposedly I have just 5 more days till this baby finally makes his appearance. At this point I would be totally delighted if he decided to come early! I'd like to be the only one in my body for a change. I'm feeling pretty good if a little lacking in energy.

Sean and Emma-Lyn are doing great. Sean is fairly excited about his new brother coming and I'm pretty sure Emma-Lyn has no sweet clue as to what is about to happen in her little world...this could prove interesting to say the least!! ;)

Sweet Emma-Lyn with a pony tail.

She loves to move the furniture!

Sean just loves his new toy from Grammie...unfortunately it is already broken...Marko is hoping that he might be able to fix it.

Happy Anniversary and Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow will be our 6th Anniversary!! Wow, where did the time go? I must say I just love my hubby to bits and am ever so grateful that we're married and I just love spending time with him doing whatever, be it going for drives, looking at real estate (yep, we're still hunting for a place), playing games together or just being silly. (I especially love being silly with him!) I love you Marko and I couldn't imagine life without you!!

Here we are 6 years ago:

It's my favourite picture! This year to celebrate we not only went out for supper we also got away for an evening. It was such a treat. Grammie Peric offered to watch the kids for us so we immediately set out to find a nice place to eat and a nice place to stay for the evening. We had supper at Mosaic which is a favourite restaurant of ours. Then we were off for Victoria By the Sea, a lovely part of the Island. We stayed at the Orient Hotel which is run much more like a bed and breakfast. We had a wonderful room called the driftwood room. It had it's own little sitting room and large ensuite bath. So delightful. It was on the top floor and ever so quiet! I just loved it. In the morning we went down to the tearoom for our breakfast which was just so scrumptious, poached eggs with Holandaise sauce with fresh fruit! Marko didn't have the egg but did enjoy the fruit and the toast and cereal that was available.

After breakfast we packed up and headed out to explore the area and enjoy the fall colours. It was pretty wet so we didn't make many stops but still the countryside was alive with colour! We headed into Summerside and Marko bought me a great set of baking bowls, measuring cups, measuring spoons and a whisk. (You can never have too many bowls or measuring cups and spoons!! :) We took the scenic route back into town and had lunch at Pizza Delight and then we headed back home to see how Grammie Peric made out with the kiddos. They had a good time but now Emma-Lyn is feeling a bit under the weather.

Tomorrow my family will be here for Thanksgiving. We're simplifying things by getting Swiss Chalet to make dinner and we'll bring it home to share! I'm totally looking forward to that! Yum!

Here are pics from our little getaway:
The Orient Hotel.
The Tea Room where they serve wonderful meals...we may just have to come back here next year!

Our bedroom.

And the view from our room. So peaceful.

Pulling Out the Potty Stops

Emma-Lyn has been showing some readiness for potty training and now that her bowels seem to have figured themselves out, we're giving it a shot. Today, Sean got out the potty for his little sister. He was excited for her and she was thrilled! She kept calling out, "Potty, Potty!!!" She liked sitting on it but so far we haven't met with much success but I'm really happy with how excited she is about it. It was funny to see how happy Sean was for her too. He's really growing up too. He loves to play with Emma-Lyn, especially running races from the front door to the living room. And if he bumps her over, he'll stop, apologize and help her up. So sweet! And listening to the two of them squeal as they race back and forth is awesome!

Had a really great day yesterday, my friend Carolyn and her youngest daughter dropped in for the morning. Apparently Catherine wanted to play with Sean so Carolyn thought this was a great idea for a play date! We got to chat and the kids had a great time playing together. Then in the afternoon Jennie came over and we all went out shopping and then hit Victoria Park for awhile. That night it was girls night out and I went over to Tammy's for what I thought was a birthday party for Karen but turned out to be a birthday party for her, me and Deanna as well as a baby shower for me! It was sooooo much fun!! Laughed so hard and had such a great time. I totally forgot to take my camera but I'm hoping to get some pictures from Karen so I'll be able to post those later.

Today was pretty quiet which was good for me because I've been pretty sore and my nose was all stuffed up and perhaps was a little overtired from all the fun on Friday. Tomorrow we have church and are hoping to check out the Farm Day being held downtown in the afternoon.

I have another doctor's appointment on Thursday. Everything is looking good, the baby's head is down so that's good. I've been making lots of meals to freeze so I won't have so much to think about once this baby does arrive. I feel like I'm mostly prepared now. I'm very happy to have my mother in law living upstairs, it will be great to have her helping hands so close by!

I just love how cute Emma-Lyn looks in these pjs! And love the expression on Sean's face.

New Routines...

This fall marks a new beginning for us. We have started our journey in homeschooling! And so far it has been a LOT of fun! I had no idea there was such a great support group here on the Island and they have been such a wonderful resource and help to us already! Sean is really keen to do his school work every day, he even wants to work on the weekends!

We don't do too much just simple little lessons in numbers and letters and using a pencil. He's already learned so much and enjoys getting out his school books and adding to his number book that we're making together. I have to say that having this teaching time with Sean is a major highlight of my days! I love coming up with little lesson plans and activities for us to do together. We usually have class time after lunch when Emma-Lyn is down for her nap so I can give Sean my full attention. We spend some time at the kitchen table working together then we have some activities we complete in his room. Pretty basic stuff but a lot of fun to watch him gain confidence and develop interest in these things.

Today was almost like a school day since we spent the morning at the Atlantic Veterinary College's Open House. There was so much to see and do! Animals to look at, different displays to check out and activities to do. The kids loved it! We even brought their little puppies to take to the Teddy Bear Clinic. They got to take their puppies to one of the Vet students to have them checked over. Sean's puppy needed a band-aid and some medicine, Emma-Lyn wouldn't let the student put the band-aid on but insisted on the meds (a little pill container filled with Skittles!)

Here are some pics from the day:

Emma-Lyn a future Vet?!! :)

Or maybe Sean will become a Vet.

Looks like Daddy might be moonlighting as a Vet. ;)

Here they are at the clinic. Such concern on Emma-Lyn's face!

Checking out the Albino snake. Both kids ended up patting it.

Up close and personal with a goat.

Checking out the animals.
