What a Fun and Busy Weekend!

So much to do and see and people to hangout with!!

Friday was a bit of a rough start. I took the kiddos to the mall and everything was going swimmingly until the cart incident. Apparently the straps on the special Zellers cart were too tight for Sean and instead of informing me of this, he decided to have a melt down...full blown screaming and wriggling melt, fun. I was not impressed and unbuckled Emma-Lyn and told Sean that we were going back to the van in no uncertain terms! Again he was not impressed and started in more wailing. I walked..very quickly (poor lad was practically running to keep up with me...couldn't have been easy while he was still fussing) and all the way to the van we went. (we were able to borrow Gerry and Sharon's van for the occasion) Once there it was time for a cool down and regroup. My solel purpose for going to the mall was to pick up a 50th Anniversary card for a couple at our church. So once Sean was simmered down, I barked out his new orders and they were to be followed to the T. We managed to pick up the card and get back in the van with no further incident.

We had a good afternoon and then Grammie Peric came down to look after the kiddos while I went out to the 50th Anniversary open house at the Chapel. It was really nice to visit with friends and congratulate the happy couple. It's one of the oldies that I work for and they're a lot of fun to work for too.

Friday evening I went over to Jennie's and we played a little Singstar. I love that game and we have some favourite songs we like to belt out together so it was a really fun topper to my day.

Saturday was quite busy. Marko and I were out the door for 10:00 to help clean the Chapel. That's what we do at our church, everyone gets an opportunity to help keep the building clean. When we got home it was lunch time and then we were all out the door to run a few errands. We got some banking done, and got all our groceries. Just as we were pulling into our driveway, our friends Mike and Jamie pulled up. They were here to pick up Marko for Nick's bachelor party. Thanks to Mike and Jamie's help we were able to bring in all our bags and get Marko out the door quickly. The kiddos and I spent a quieter afternoon together and then at 6 I was off to Danielle's Bachelorette party.

Danielle didn't know what we were going to be doing and I'm so kicking myself for forgetting to take my camera! It was a super fun night! The gals gathered at Nancy's place and from there we headed to Cavendish for supper. We surprised Danielle with her very own "pimped out" Beaver tail for dessert (it's a most delicious pastry!) And then we headed back in town to see the chick flick, The Proposal. But beforehand we got Danielle to play a bit of Dance, Dance Revolution in front of all the other moviegoers. It was pretty cute since she was dressed in a shirt that said Bride to Be and D hearts N. (Bonnie did a really great job on that!) and she was wearing a bright pink lei. Such a great night.

This morning we were up and out the door by 8:30 to go out to our dear friends the Skys to worship with them at their performance hall. (They live in a wee little place called Clinton) We were there plenty early and got to indulge in some most delicious homemade goodies! And it was sooooo very good to see them again and hug them lots!

We got home for a quick bite and then off we went to Fort Augustus to celebrate Marko's Nanny's 90th birthday. ( her birthday isn't until December but this was a better time for travel for family members) Our little family and Grammie Peric got up and sang 3 little songs. Sean was a little shy but ever so cute and Emma-Lyn just wanted to get down and socialize with everybody! We sang, The Bear Went Over the Mountain (Nanny used to sing this to Marko's mom when she was little) and Jesus Lover of My Soul and Jesus Loves Me, both are songs that we sing to our kids at bedtime. It was a lovely gathering after which we headed over to our favourite park and then home again home again to finally finish up our busy weekend.

Here are a few shots from today:
Nanny P, I didn't realize how poor a shot I took till I got home so I played around with it and now it looks more like a

Nanny's birthday cake.

The live entertainment! Emma-Lyn swayed about to the music while she went from table to table greeting everyone.

Such a cutie pie!

Just thought this was really neat!

Fun Summer Days

What a fun and relaxing summer we've enjoyed thus far. Our days are spent mostly playing outside. Sometimes in the driveway the kids will drive their trikes and trains in circles and later it's to the backyard to play on the swingset or take a dip in the kiddie pool. The kiddie pool has definitely gotten more attention since Sharon put Analisa's (her grand-daughter) little slide into it. The kids just LOVE it! What Sean also loves is having another playmate. Analisa along with her parents are living upstairs for the summer and so whenever Sean sees Analisa outside he wants to be out there too! Today Analisa blew bubbles while Sean and Emma-Lyn chased after them.

Emma-Lyn was in for her 18 month shots this past week and did really well. She got upset when they put the needle in but then quickly settled and was back to being her happy little self again. We got to weigh and measure her so now she is a little over 25 pounds and is 31 inches tall.

Funny comment from Sean this evening: As we were snuggling before putting him to bed, he pointed to my belly and said, "Mommy is your baby still in your belly?" "Yep, you know I should let you feel him in there sometime. Not right now since he seems to be sleeping." "Oh, is he in his crib in there?... Is the door shut?" "Ummmm, I guess so?!"

Both kiddos love going to the park and especially the one at Glen Stewart School. And here are some cute little shots of them playing:

King of the playground. He loves climbing up this structure and just sitting on the top.

Finally, Another Post!

Ugh, I've been such a slacker! I can't believe it's been over a week since I last posted!

Beppe's wake went very well. It was nice to be with family and meet so much of the community. And there were some funny parts...I hope my uncle won't kill me for posting I'll not mention his name and you can guess which one it is :) Anyhoo, he introduced himself three different times as Marianna's younger sister! It was so funny...then I accidentally introduced Marko as "My Marko." Instead of "my husband, Marko."

We stayed overnight and in the morning instead of just heading right back to the Island we decided to tour around a bit. Marko hadn't really seen much of the area so it was nice to show him a few places and get reaquainted with some places myself. We went to the mall, which I haven't been in for like years! And wow! That place has changed! We went to a local restaurant (one that Mom recommended) and had a wonderful lunch before heading back home.

It has been so wonderful to have Grammy Peric home. The kids just love her to bits! And we have had so many date nights we hardly know what to do with ourselves! :) Tonight we're hoping to go to the Drive In (weather permitting) to see Ice Age 3.

The following are some pictures from Beppe's wake.

These are all items that Beppe made.

The two home made cabbage patch dolls were Karina's and mine. Mine is the more beat up looking one.

Beppe didn't make the doll, but she did make the entire Dutch outfit for her.

Canada Day and Other Stories

Canada Day was a really fun day! At first I was a little bummed to find out that Marko had to work for the morning but, once we got a plan together it really went well. We went with Marko out to his office, dropped him off and then headed off to King's Castle Provincial Park. The kids had a hoot running from one thing to another. There was so much to do, Sean hardly knew where to begin. Poor Emma-Lyn got eaten up by the flies but that didn't stop her from having a great time!

After that we picked up Auntie Bernie and headed to Cardigan for the Canada Parade. Sean was ecstatic! We realized that our kids are definietly parade rookies. When I showed Sean the piece of candy that was thrown to him, he picked it up and promptly threw it back!! Too funny! Emma-Lyn also enjoyed the parade and the free freezies! We dropped Auntie Bernie back at her place then picked up Daddy to go have lunch at Gillis'. It was sooo yummy!

We trucked back into Charlottetown for the BBQ at Mike and Nancy's. The kids had a great time playing in the yard and with our friends Kevin and Stephanie! The kids slept soundly that night!!

Yesterday I had another dr's appointment and all went well! :) Oh, and now since all the folks know we've decided to let the whole world know (or at least those parts of it that are interested) that we are having a.....BOY!! :) Apparently quite a few people were guessing that was what we were having.

Marko' mom came home last night and Sean has been so delighted to have her home! :) Sean was so cute last night. He enjoys praying at bedtime and last night he prayed that God would have a happy Father's day...okay so the timing is a bit off..but how cute is that? Emma-Lyn was also cute the other morning...she found the toilet paper and tore a wee bit off and proceeded to attempt to wipe her diaper covered bum...after which she managed to lodge a bit up there and wandered around with her new "tail" Too funny!

Tomorrow we're off to the mainland. My grandmother ( we called her Beppe...Friesan for grandmother) passed away on Tuesday and the visitation is tomorrow. Marko and I are going over and Grammy is going to look after the kiddos while we are away. We're going to stay overnight and do what we can to help out. Beppe would have been 92 in October. I'm looking forward to seeing my family and visiting with friends of Beppe's.

Fun on the merry-go-round at King's Castle.

Sean at the top of the tower.

Swinging Emma-Lynny.

Sean watching the parade. He stood throughout the whole thing, waving his flag and having a ball.

And Sean's favourite part of the parade!! :)
