Finally My Valentine's Day Post!

So yeah, Valentine's Day! It was a BLAST! On Friday my oldie called and asked if I could work for four hours on Saturday so I figured, what the hey?! The money will pay for supper! I had a lovely morning working with Eva. It had been awhile so it was nice to catch up. While I was out Grant and Shelley were in to pick up the kids. I'm pretty sure that Sean was excited about going!

When I got home the kiddos were gone, we had the place to ourselves! So guess what I did?! I napped! Ahhh and what a glorious nap that was! After nap time we got ourselves together and did a little shopping...Marko got me a beautiful mini rose bush, that I just love! I hope I don't end up killing the poor thing!

After our shopping excursion we headed home to spruce ourselves up for our date at RumRunners.

Anyhoo, on our way there I got to thinking about where they might seat us and was nervous that we would end up near the door or somewhere drafty...Was I ever wrong! We pretty much got the best seats in the house! They have a raised platform where there's just three tables and a fireplace. Our table had a great curved and cushioned seat and two chairs. We got to snuggle up close on the curved seat and enjoy the ambiance. We both ended up having the same thing for supper, except that Marko had a Ceasar salad and I had a tossed salad (with the most scrumptious honey basil dressing!) Our main course was chicken stuffed with tomatoes, havarti, pesto and pecans (DELISH!!) along with tasty roasted red potatoes and steamed vegetables! YUMMMY! For dessert we shared a brownie with icecream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup! Again, YUMMMMY!

It was such a wonderful and relaxed evening! It was really great not to have to worry about a babysitter and time schedules and such. We just enjoyed every moment we had together...So lovely.

As for the kiddos, they had a fine time with the Canfields!! Sean played with trains and any other toys around and Emma-Lyn had a great time puttering around and being cute :) I was so thrilled to learn how well they had done on their very first sleepover ever and the nice things that Grant and Shelley had to say about my kiddos sure warmed my heart! :)

Time to Talk with God

During the day I like to spend some time reading my Bible and praying. And usually I like to pray out loud which is all fine and dandy right? I usually find the quiet moment when both the kiddos are down for their afternoon nap. And today was just that moment and I was happily praying away when I heard Sean get up and thought how odd that was since he hadn't been down for an hour yet. But, anyways he came out all groggy like and stood facing into the living room. I asked him if he was all done sleeping and he assured me that he was. I then told him that I was in the middle of praying and maybe he would like to go back to his room and play with his toys until I was done. He said no, and that he wanted to talk to God too and would be back to sit in the rocking chair after he did something in his room.

He came back got himself up into the rocking chair and said, "Okay Mommy, lets bow our heads and close our eyes and pray...Except Mommy, I don't know how to. You'd better do it."

So I did and I admit that I peeked a couple times just to see what he was doing. And there he was with his eyes as tightly shut as he could get them and just sitting in the rocking chair.

I thought it was just soooo sweet!

This weekend Marko and I are in for a bit of a treat! Our friends the Canfields have offered to take the kids for a sleepover on Saturday night! They're even going to pick them up late Saturday morning so we'll have most of Saturday sans kiddos! At this point we don't have huge plans or anything but we will be going to RumRunners for supper! Yum!

Sledding at the Skys!

We are having a really fun weekend so far! On Saturday we were invited out to our friend's place to go sledding. They have a most wonderful Inn and home up on this really great hill. The fam and I as well as Jennie, Malcom and Nancy all headed out in our little caravan to the Sky's place. It was a picture perfect day, the sun was shining and the temperature was just about right. As soon as we got there Miriam, Gabe, Seth and Joel and Josiah (another friend of the Sky's) all got their gear on and we headed out to the hills...SO MUCH FUN!! Sean and Emma-Lyn had a blast. I'm pretty sure my baby girl loves speed!! She had the best time zipping down the slopes. She wasn't so thrilled when Jennie and I took to another part of the hill where we ended up going down it at a snail's pace!

It was a super great day! Today we took the kids to the Library and a good time there. Then we had some friends in tonight to play some corporate shuffle and tomorrow we're off to look at another house. Yes, tomorrow is a holiday here on the Island...we call it Islander Day!! Yipppeeee!

Getting Through the Winter Blahs

What with all the snowstorms and such it's nice to get out do something fun as a family! This Sunday we went tobogganing! The kids loved it and Marko and I had a really good time too! There was lots of crisp white snow to plod through and coast down! Emma-Lyn really enjoyed going down the hill at Grace. And this Saturday we get to do it all over again with our friends the Petrofskys. They have a lovely big place out in Clinton with a most magnificent hill that I am just uber excited to sled down!

Another fun acitivity that I've started this winter is being involved in our church's new outreach. There is quite number of new comers to PEI and we've started up an ESL class to help them learn English. Last Thursday was our first class and it was so much fun. I'm so thankful for all the other ladies that have volunteered their time to be teachers and help in this really fun and educational outreach.

25 Things About Me

This is a meme that's been bouncing around Facebook and blogs for awhile and I've been tagged a few times and thought I'd put this on the ol' blog. You're supposed to tag some friends but I think I'll just let whoever wants to do it, go ahead and do it.

So here are 25 random things about me:

1. I grew up in Newmarket, Ontario and moved to Nova Scotia on my 14th birthday.
2. When I was 12 or so I got hit by a motorcycle.
3. When I was 2 I took off with my mom's sewing scissors and fell up the stairs and ended up tearing a tendon in my right arm and got to wear a cast!
4. My favourite desert is strawberry shortcake.
5. I am currently watching the superbowl with my friends...It's Brian's birthday (well it was on Wednesday but we're celebrating tonight.) We had cake at halftime.
6. I've owned cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, and a guinea pig (really the guinea pig was my sister's)
7. Now we don't have any pets. :(
8. I've lived in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
9. I sat in the back seat of a police cruiser...I was little and some neighbourhood kid had taken me for a ride on his sled...my mom didn't know where I was..Thankfully they found me eh?!
10. I fell off a cliff while I was taking pictures with some friends.
11. I don't really like talking on the phone, I'd much rather talk to people in person.
12. I've been in a small plane accident...it was winter and we went off the runway.
13. One of the first times I got to take my parent's car out for a drive, it was winter and I put it in the ditch...at the end of our driveway.
14. I used to play the clarinet.
15. I don't like to shop unless I know exactly what I want and know where I'm going to get it.
16. I love the beach! Anytime of the year!
17. I want to go camping this summer.
18. My friend Mary and I painted, "End the Strike" on the roof of Allison Gardens at 1 o'clock in the morning...that building no longer exists.
19. My favourite time of year is the summer...I love being outside and playing with the kids!
20. Once worked for an elderly lady who accidently peed in her rubber boots...I got to clean the boots.
21. Also for this same elderly lady I found a dead cat in her front room...I got to bury the cat...with a shovel that had a hole in the blade of it...fun.
22. I worked two summers as Daisy the Talking Cow at Magic Valley Theme Park in Nova Scotia.
23. I love to be with my friends and just be silly!
24. I have the sweetest and funniest children on the planet!...I'm not biased at all.
25. My husband is my bestest friend. I do and say all kinds of stupid stuff and he still loves me!!
